The title of this post sounds familiar, right? Good! It should. It is the title we use to describe the morning of our first day of school! And, since our classes restart every 6 1/2 weeks, we will be having many more like it. – - I knew I would have a story about this day simply because it was the first day of school. And I will add that NEVER do Elisabeth and I have any sort of complications in the morning before school. Unless, of course, it’s the first day of school. So you know how important it is for us to leave early on the first day of school to get a seat, yada yada. Right. Well on this morning, (the start of our 3rd semester) we planned on leaving at 9:30 for our 10 am class. (I’m telling you friends, this whole permanent unassigned/assigned seating is no joke!!!) We planned every minute of our morning and even had extra time to take a first day of school picture (posted below), have breakfast and stop by a friends dorm room to drop something off. SO, as we are headed to class … I heard an “UH OH….” muttered from Tiny Elisabeth. What could she possibly be uh-oh’ing? I thought we were doing great on time – and quite frankly I was getting excited to get to class to pick out my seat! So I didn’t know what could be the cause of her uh oh. Little did I know, the next sentence out of her mouth would get our adrenaline going in high gear and send our blood pressure through the roof…..
“Uh Oh….says tiny one…I FORGOT TO BRUSH MY TEETH!”
Without thinking I said “WHAT! YOU DID WHAT!! On the FIRST day of school??!” Of all the days … but that’s ok! We’ve been hit before and have bounced right back…. LUCKILY us Gallatin girls know how to move under pressure and understand the meaning of HURRY!!! AFter discussing the possibilities of going to class, blaming her stinky breath on the coffee and running home in between classes to brush her teeth- – we decided to make a 2 minute stop at home so that:
1) Elisabeth could brush her teeth and
2) I could find the slip of paper that told us what room # our class was in (Minor detail)
LUCKILY, like I said – when it comes to time… we sure do know the meaning of hurry! You’ll be happy to know that Elisabeth went to class today with fresh, mint smelling breath – and we were on time to class so that we found 2 seats next to eachother
ahhh.. I can already tell this semester is gonna be a good one!
